So, packing officially started today (6/23/06) and it's already a headache. I ship out on the 29th, and I'm super excited. I'm leaving everything and everyone I know to embark on what will hopefully be a wild adventure. I wanted to take this time to post some messages to my friends before I leave. I'm good with advice you know!
I had such a fun time in med school this year. Although I didn't feel fulfilled in a career type way, I met some of THE most awesome people (and not so awesome ones). The experience is something that I will hold with me for a very long time. I definitely got some lifetime friends out of it. I hope a lot of you keep in touch (which is the reason I started this blog). I started this blog so that all of you can experience this with me. I definitely have never done anything like this before. I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. All of my family is here. All of my friends are here. But somethimes there is a calling, deep within your soul, and no matter how much you try to ignore it or supress it, it keeps pulling at you. So, I must do what I fell I am being called to do!
The past year has been pretty hectic, but I learned so much about myself emotionally, mentally, spiritually, intellectually, etc. I'd like to share some of those things with you guys. So, here are some of the lessons I've learned:
1. DO NOT stress out over things like school, work, relationships, etc. Things ALWAYS work out for the best. They really do. Failure is nothing more than success trying to be born in a bigger way. One setback could be a blessing in disguise. So many people freak out over the tests we have in school. Chill out, it will be ok!!
2. A person who constantly compare themselves to other people, or constantly worry about what other people think are doomed for a life of misery. Seriously, it's not that serious. I think I have this one down cold!
3. STAND UP FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN!!! Get thicker skin, grow a backbone, and stand up. Everyone should know what I'm talking about. There will be so many more times in your lives when someone is treating you wrong, abusing you, tearing you down, and no one else is going to do anything. Remember, society has many views on many subjects, and most of the time society is dead ass wrong! Be an individual. Silence is ACCEPTANCE!!! Nobody deserves to be treated like anythingg less than a human being. I won't have it, and neither should you!
4. Talk less, and listen more. A lot of us talk too much (myself included) and get ourselves into trouble. In order to fully understand ourselves, we need to understand each other, and that means LISTENING!!!
Well, that's all I'm going to say here. I think I had a lot more, but it's now Wednesday the 28th and I'm leaving tomorrow morning, and I forgot all the other stuff. Haha, it'll come back to me. I really do wish everyone the most success that they can strive for and that they deserve. All I can say is that I hope everyone is pursuing their passion, because I am!!
Farewell to all. Look for my next blog sometime after the 4th of July. By that time, I'll be settling into the City of Angels, hopefully as happy as a pig in mud!!
Until next time,
Kris
